A new chapter begins at Murrayshall

We are delighted to announce that, following the sale of the hotel in November 2016, significant investment will be made this year in both the hotel and golf courses to rejuvenate the property and launch it on the path to becoming one of the top 25 independent hotels in Scotland.

Adam Cosgrove, General Manager, announced the plans to staff at the end of February confirming investment in bedrooms, public areas, the Lynedoch Suite and relaunch of the Old Masters Restaurant. “This is a very exciting time for Murrayshall. A new chapter begins with substantial investment across the board; a new focus on service and hospitality and an opportunity to refresh and rejuvenate this wonderful hotel.”

Adam, who joins from the Marine Hotel in Troon, confirmed refurbishment works will start in late spring, will see the reception area, private lounge, cocktail bar and Old Masters Restaurant sympathetically transformed with a contemporary, stylish décor. Six bedrooms will be overhauled in this initial phase of works as will be the Lynedoch Suite, our main function room.

The Old Masters Restaurant will be relaunched later this year as a stylish brasserie, opening the door to the local community to come and enjoy dishes from the creative menu, skilfully prepared by Head Chef Craig Jackson and his team.

On the golf course, investment in machinery and the greenkeeping team will see improvements in the greens and, over the course of the year, facilitate projects to be undertaken. New course and directional signage will be installed giving a better sense of arrival and journey around the course for golfers. Alan Reid, PGA Pro at Murrayshall, said “the investment in the course and greenkeeping team shows commitment to members and comes at a time when other courses are finding it hard to invest. “Golf has been played at Murrayshall since 1981 and the club has always been held in high regard. A new era has begun with new levels of interest seeking to engage with members, grow membership on a personal and corporate basis and spread the word that Murrayshall is making investment to improve the facility”.

Julian Tee, Director of Hetherley Capital Partners, who operate Murrayshall, said “this initial phase of investment is desperately needed to re-set the hotel and with careful planning, we are able to continue to operate the business despite the works. Our Plans are well advanced for 2018 as we continue to improve the physical facilities and focus on staff training and development to deliver a personable and professional level of service to all our guests and members”.
